The 8th China Information Accessibility Forum Successfully Convened in Beijing

On September 20, 2012, the 8th China Information Accessibility Forum was convened in Beijing at China Braille Library. This forum was jointly hosted by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF), Internet Society of China (ISC) and China Foundation for Disabled Persons (CFDP). The theme of this session of forum was “Promoting sharing and Leading Innovation”.
Many distinguished guests attended the forum opening ceremony, including Mr. SHANG Bing, the Deputy Director of MIIT, Mr. WANG Xinxian, the President of CDPF, Madam HU Qiheng, the President of ISC, Madam TANG Xiaoquan, the Vice-chairwoman of CDPF and President of CFDP, Mr. SONG Mingchang, the Party member of General Administration of Press and Publication and Mr. ZHAO Jibin, the Vice President of China Mobile, Mr. Andrea Cairola, the representative of UNESCO to China, Mr. Stephen King, the Chairman of DAISY etc.
Deputy Director SHANG Bing gave a speech, pointing out that MIIT will give its guidance and support in the aspects of policy guidance, industry planning and technical standard and also give priority to the technical innovation of information accessibility construction, creating a sound policy and market environment for information accessibility development. Mr. WANG Xinxian said in his speech that CDPF will do its best to organize the whole society to participate in supervising, implementing the policies and driving information accessibility construction process. President HU Qiheng said that ISC will actively create a sound accessibility environment, from which the disabled persons could gain tangible convenience and benefits. President TANG Xiaoquan said that CDPF will drive China’s information accessibility cause into in-depth and wide development by strengthening cooperation with relevant Ministries, enterprises and research institutions, promoting the concept of information accessibility and driving the rapid development and widespread use of information accessibility technology.
At the opening ceremony, a section of award and donation ceremony was presented to honor the enterprises and individuals’ donation of equipment, software or money. Over 200 foreign guests from America, England, Canada, Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia etc. attended the forum. At the forum, the latest development, technology application and products of worldwide information accessibility has been discussedby participants from Chinese and foreign ICT sectors including IBM, Microsoft, China Mobile, Baidu, Google and Alibaba etc.
During the 8th China Information Accessibility Forum, a China information accessibility experience zone was set up. Well-known enterprises, research institutions and organizations for disabled from different countries and regions exhibited their technology, products and solutions for the disabled. They also paid more attentions to information accessibility technology development, seeking for cooperation and win-win opportunities in the aspects of technology, products, capital, market, innovation and services etc.
